Is it wrong to rush a friend off the phone because her kid wants attention?

i have a childhood friend who has a 2 yr old daughter, i have no kids . every time she calls me or i call her a few minutes in to the convo her child starts asking her questions or she wants something to eat or whatever. so our conversations are always getting int erupted which i honestly don't mind, i understand she's a kids so after a few in eruptions i tell my friend it looks like your little one wants some attention so i will let you go so you can tend to her now here is the problem the mother doesn't want to get off the phone . my friend gets highly upset when i say this and i don't understand why? one day we got into a big fight because her daughter didn't want to go to bed and was yelling her little heart out for her mother to lay down with her so i say i will talk to you later it seems like your daughter really needs you and my friend went off on me. am i wrong for ending the convo so mom can tend to her child or what ? please let me know
