Is it okay to wash your makeup utensils?

I just ran a few of mine under water but alot of my makeup isn't clean becuase i've been going to freinds houses and forgetting to put my makeup in a bag to protect it so i guess it has a lot of bacteria now. I dont' want to throw it all away but what could i do about it? I have eyeliner and will sharpening it make the bacteria go away? I've heard that before. but i also had mascara but its in a a tube, powder foundation that was in a compact, and two things of eyeshadow.they were both uncovered. What should i do?
