What is this substance included in my microscope kit?

I recently recieved a very very old microscope from my grandma. She used it in college, and it's in pretty bad shape, so I'm trying to renovate it. In the old kit, I found a small gl bottle full of strange, pink round crystals. There are also a few rolling around in the wooden case. I know its not silica gel because the original kit contained 6 carefully bottled and sealed bottles of it. Anyone know?
