How bad is retaking a cl in college?

it depends on your college. like in my college, if you retake a cl, they will put the highest score you have earned as your final grade, so it will be better if you ask the registrar. and some times retaking a cl makes you learn more. as I said, if your college choose the best score for that cl, no one else would know what you have done in college.
